Have You Heard of the Roomba?

My wife and I recently treated ourselves to a Roomba, which is a robotic vacuum cleaner that can clean your entire house. It will vacuum over area rugs, under chairs, and in places that you can’t reach. You can also program it to avoid certain areas, but it just scoots along and does the job with no complaints! It even cleans pet hair, and because we have a pet Lab, this is very useful for us.

Although we have our home professionally cleaned every 2 months, we still find the Roomba to be very good at keeping our home even cleaner. This is an especially good thing to have while selling your home, as you can use it when a showing pops up without your knowledge. You can program your Roomba to clean your home at any time, and it will even dock itself when it’s done.

Having an Energy-Efficient Home Is Easy

Today we'll be discussing how you can make your home more energy-efficient. Last year, I hired a green energy company to come out and help my home become more energy-efficient. Here's what they did.

First, they conducted a blow test and a thermal imaging test to determine the type of program I qualified for. Next, they sealed all the cracks in my attic and crawlspace. Then, they blew in about 3-4 feet of insulation in one side of the attic, and under the floorboards as well. The next thing they did was replace the insulation around the perimeter of the foundation walls on the addition in the back of our house. Finally, they pulled up the siding on the house and blew in more foam insulation behind the walls.

After having this done, we saw immediate results, and lower energy costs. We highly recommend doing this, as it will improve your overall quality of life, increase the value of your home, and cut down on those energy bills.

The Best Time to Sell in New Jersey

Clients often ask, “When’s the best time to sell my home?” According to the Auto Group, there’s a sales peak around April. These sales include properties marketed during the beginning of the year. Therefore, it’s best to list during the first quarter. Here’s why:
  • Young couples are excited about buying a home. There’s a lot of optimism at the start of a new year from first-time home buyers!
  • There’s less competition. At the start of the new year, less homes are on the market. Inventory is always low during the winter, especially compared to the spring. This is your opportunity to stand out!
  • There’s less foliage on the ground. It’s a great time to see the landscape! Serious buyers are out there looking at not only the inside of a home, but outside, too.
  • Listing sooner helps to price aggressively. You have time to make adjustments before the summer market hits.
There you have it! Those are my four reasons why you should list during the first quarter. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out by phone or email!
