As a Realtor who visits commuter towns in Jersey, I get to visit my fair share of restaurants in these places.
One of my favorite stops is in Union County in Cranford. This is actually two different restaurants right next to each other, and they are owned by the same people. The restaurants are A Toute Heure and 100 Steps. These are very quaint, small restaurants with great food and even better service. The 100 Steps is an old-fashioned supper club with an oyster bar, and A Toute Heure serves chic French cuisine.
Another gem in the area is in Morris County in the town of Stirling. The Stirling Hotel looks as if it was built in 1800, but when you go around the back there is a nice beer garden with fire pits and music. Inside it's a little dark, but the food is very good.

In Somerset County in the town of Warren, there are two restaurants that I like. Silk Road is a family-run Afghani restaurant, and they take a lot of care in crafting their food. It's about as authentic as it can get. If you've never tried Afghani food, I suggest you try it!
The other restaurant is called Rolf's Restaurant and Pub. This is my cousin's restaurant if you're looking for a beer and some upscale bar food. It's also a great place to listen to music on the weekends.
There is a lot of great food in our area, and these restaurants are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to great dining in our area. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any more questions. I look forward to hearing from you!
